April 2005 Activity Log

Today I created wrenches to adjust the doors (a common practice among Europa owners). Harbor Freight Tools had their 14 piece SAE wrench set on sale for $9.95 so I bought a set, took the 1 1/8" wrench from the set and cut both ends off, then cut a slot in the box end so it would slip over the hinge pin. With the two short wrenches, adjustment of the drivers door was pretty easy. The passenger door still needs adjusted, but at least I can get in and out without lifting the door.

Spent some more time cleaning the garage this morning. Now I can get to all sides of the Europa and I can even see the top of my workbench! Filled the gas tank as it was running on fumes when I brought it home from the painter last October. Put in one 5 gal. can of 93 octane (presently $2.209 at Sam's club), 1/2 bottle of octane boost and 1/2 oz. of lead additive.

What a nice day today. Temperature was 70°F so I decided I would clean the snow plow and re-arrange the garage. Couldn't stand to see the nice weather with the Lotus stuck in the back of the garage. Moved the plow to the rear of the garage and moved the Lotus to the front. Now I can finish putting it back together after the paint job in October.

No time (or space) for the Europa this month. We're selling the Tavern and I have been hauling truckloads of junk home for temporary storage in the garage. The sale should be completed by the end of April at which time we'll retire and I'll have time to sort it all out. This probably means I won't get anything done on the Europa until May.
