March 2007 Activity Log

S1A - Created two ramps to elevate the S1A body over the S1B. Ripped a 4'x8' sheet of 3/4" plywood to four 1' x 8' pieces and used two 2" x 6" x 8' studs to create the wheel surface. The S1A dolly wheels are now 10" off the floor and the bottom of the car is 34" off the floor.

S1A & S1B - My friendly County Government took exception to my projects sitting under cover in front of my house. Sent me a letter that said they had to be inside a building. Since I have only a one car garage, and no place to erect a temporary building, I thought it was going to be a problem. Luckily, I discovered a way to fit 25 feet of cars into a 20 foot deep space!
I plan to increase the height of the cart soon so that the S1A body sits level, but for now, the problem is solved.

S1A - Determined that the fuel tank is too far deteriorated to be salvageable, so I will send it out to be used as a pattern for new aluminum tanks. As the tank contained 15 pounds of 20+ year-old congealed fuel, I chiseled a window in one side and scraped, pried, and chiseled the crap out. I then washed the inside with soap and water, followed by pressure washing. The tank is now clean enough to be shipped.
The crap that came out of the tank looks like coal. I may have the only coal-powered Europa ever made!
