Hi there ..... I'm typing from Ontario, Canada ... just a few miles to the north of TORONTO ...right in the heart of deer country ..... I received a call from a friend this evening telling me that my car (or remnants thereof) was pictured on the internet !!
A quick "google" turned up your site and lo-and-behold .... there was my 1972 Europa TC c/w ruined windshield and hoof prints all over it ....in my own garage no less !! I have no idea who Amy Rockhill might be, but please pass on my thanks to her for making my car famous !!
Bambi-the-ba****d leapt out at me one night in late August whilst I was driving home from showing off my pride and joy (as one does) at the the home of friends .... literally one moment I was gently (yeah , I was !!) cruising along a lovely twisty backroad .... and then suddenly a deer stood maybe 15' in front of me ..... a damned big one too ....or so it seemed at the time .... there was no time to decide which way was best to swerve .... so I chose the side with more road .... Bambi leapt again, and we .... let's just say we met ..... I think I must have taken the legs out from under the deer as it landed right across the windshield ....... maybe I should have accelerated.... I might have passed safely beneath the bl**dy thing ..... I was unharmed apart from few scrapes...... and a severe case of "grown-man-crying". However the car was written off by the insurance company due to the frame being diagnosed as having attained a "twisted" state ..... and is now owned by some friends who have the resources to rebuild it .... this makes me very happy ...
In closure ... The Europa's replacement is a lovely '68 Elan +2 ..... and a set of "deer whistles" !!!!
The internet is a great creation .... especially when one discovers evidence of oneself here ..... thanks to Amy .... whoever she may be.
All the best
